“The question is not what you look at but what you see.”
How do you see the world around you? Do you often see what others miss or are you inclined to miss what others see? You are not alone if the art of seeing has escaped you! As is often the case, most photographers have no idea how to interpret the world around them. Trying to get it all into a single frame is part of the problem. The other part is not knowing the vision of your lenses, as well as being averse to considering different points of view.
All of us are what we shoot and over the short course of just four weeks, both your weaknesses and your strengths will be fully revealed. Are you an organized left-brainer or an impulsive right brainer? This course utilizes a number of eye-catching and thought provoking lessons that will take you on a remarkable and revealing journey into the psychology of ‘seeing’. Of course, most of us can see in the conventional sense, but most of us don’t ‘see’ in the creative sense because quite simply, we are blind to it. We will open your eyes to the vast and inspiring world of photography and the elements of design. These very elements are at the root of artistic vision and having your eyes opened to them will unleash a level of visual perception in ways you had never before imagined. Chris and Bryan offer four extensive lessons that promise to awaken that creative, yet sleeping giant, in each and every one of you in this fun-filled, eye-opening, jaw-dropping, mind-expanding, and sometimes shocking course of how you see the world around you.
There is no doubt that at the end of these four weeks, you will never look at the world the same, no matter what your current skill level was when you started the course!
Course Outline:
Lesson 1:
The elements of design: Spend a week with LINE, TEXTURE, PATTERN and COLOR and you just might reveal more about yourself than you care to!
Lesson 2:
Try these two dynamic points of view and breathe life into even the most mundane of subjects!
Lesson 3:
An exploration of focal lengths! Do you ever ask yourself, “What lens should I use?” as you are reaching for the camera to capture a scene? You won’t after this lesson!
Lesson 4:
Do you think you have the brain as well as the vision to shoot conceptual images? You will know soon enough with our Master word list! Brace yourself for the greatest challenge of all!
Course Requirement:
Completion of Understanding Exposure course OR a thorough knowledge of aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
