Welcome, BPSOP Students!
My name is Beth Ruggiero-York, and I will be your instructor for our class on post-processing your night images with Lightroom and plugins. We start tomorrow, so get ready!
After learning the basic issues you’ll face in night photographs (week 1), we will move into Adobe Lightroom Classic to learn the editing workflow (week 2). Next, you will learn how to optimize your night images using Topaz plugins – DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI (week 3). For our final class, I will teach you about a different way to photograph at night and post-process using advanced noise reduction software (week 4).
The equipment you definitely need for this class is your computer and the software we will be using.
The lessons for the class are available for download and viewing every Friday morning. You will then have 10 days to upload your images for that lesson’s assignment. So that you know when to expect the feedback on your images, I will do the critiques within 7 days after the due date.
A little background about me… Night photography is my photographic passion, and I look forward to sharing that with you over the next weeks. I teach photography workshops for Arizona Highways Photo Workshops, as well as my own workshops in the US, Europe, and Asia. My book on night photography, “Fun in the Dark: A Guide to Successful Night Photography” (http://www.funinthedark.net), goes into greater detail on some of the subjects we will cover in this class.
I encourage you to post an introduction about you and your photography in the class Q&A section. Let me know what equipment you will be using. It is my goal to teach you new skills to optimize your night images, so let’s get busy!
